Raise a hand if you limped over that finish line to 2021, because I sure did. But we made it. We made it through a year that will go down in history and one that has changed the future and the world as we know it.
2020 felt like that group project in school, and half your group is MIA, the other half thinks that they are too smart to participate but probably have the worst grades in the class and the the rest are doing the bare minimum to get a grade without getting tattled on for being too useless.
2020 Recap: [Trigger Warning ⚠️ ]
Wild fires across major continents, including but not limited to Australia, Brazil (the World's lung) and major parts of the United States, subjecting the planet to major carbon footprints... more like tire tracks.
The potential for WWIII after the US president put a hit out on a major military leader and bragged about it on national television with less class than school during a pandemic. (See what I did there)
Children pleading with more sense and logic than any politician. Pleading for safer schools, begging for climate change.
A pandemic ravaging the world in a way that would put horror/ thriller cinema to shame.
Watching with little surprise as the western nations laughed in the face of science with talk of conspiracy, because apparently its much safer to get the "fake" disease or hell... drinking hand sanitizer because some man with the vocabulary of a 19 year old frat boy told you to do it. Well if your friends told you to jump off a bridge... never mind.
Electoral showdowns across every nation that revealed the true nature of people we walk alongside of everyday.
Protests for equality and peace being met with bigotry and physical assault from those meant to protect and serve.
Numerous lives lost in the name of false justice and selective empathy.
Let me catch my breath. I could go on but I won't, because the New Year has been a fresh start to this changed world. We remember the past as not to repeat the same mistakes in our present and future.

In 2021, I resolve to...
Be more appreciative of this life I've been given, and the trials that are a part of who and how I am.
No pressure. Maybe you don't have a resolution. Maybe you think your resolution is too small to share. Maybe you feel like your resolution is too big to reach, but there's power in words and affirmations. A college mate of mine used to say, "thoughts become things!"
So, whether you are whispering it to yourself or boldly flaunting the new and improved you, 2021, unless Aliens pop up, will be our time to use the things we learned in 2020. And again, lets not run from what 2020 had to offer us. Because through out that chaos, and apocalyptic drama, we showed ourselves and one another that while some of us are the sharpest tools in the work shed, we are still sharing this planet, this life, and this world, and its our job to take care of it, and one another.
Thanks for reading my first blog post on my site, and in the New Year!!!
